Train the Trainer
      
      
To help participants to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to design, deliver and evaluate training and to provide a formal qualification for those involved in training and development. This FETAC Level 6 programme offers businesses the opportunity to up-skill selected staff members to become trainers so that future staff training can progress in line with the company’s objectives. It is intended for those with responsibility for staff development.
      
At the end of his course delegates will be able to:
· understand different learning styles
· understand the functions and processes of learning and training
· evaluate different approaches to training
· appreciate the importance of training on an individual, social
· and economic level
· work effectively with a range of learner groups.
· design, deliver and evaluate training programmes
· develop and implement appropriate assessment methods
      
The course comprises of six modules:
· Unit 1 Theory of Training and Adult Learning
· Unit 2 The Role of the Trainer
· Unit 3 Training Needs Analysis & Programme Design
· Unit 4 Preparing for Training Delivery
· Unit 5 Delivery and Assessment
· Unit 6 Evaluation of Training

Course Delivery
Four full day sessions, comprised of lectures, discussion and practical exercises. Time will be made available to delegates for mentoring outside of classroom time.

The Course Content
· Theory of adult learning and development
· Comparisons and differences with childhood learning
· The role of the trainer
· Effective communication and group dynamics
· Using a variety of training and delivery methods
· Training needs analysis and design of training programmes
· Delivery, assessment and evaluation of training programmes

Awarding Body:
FETAC (the Further Education and Training Awards Council) is the national awarding body for
further education and training in Ireland. Programmes leading to FETAC awards at Levels 1 to
6 of the National Framework of Qualifications are offered nationwide by a range of providers in education and training centres, in colleges and in the workplace.

Preferred Entry Level
Level 5 Certificate, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant life and work experiences.

Portfolio of Assessment
Assessment is devised by the internal assessor, with external moderation by FETAC.
Assessment comprises of
· A Summary Assignment 50% (written and practical)
· A Skills Demonstration 50% (written and practical)

Programme Trainers/Facilitators:
Sharon Donohoe, trading as Intuitive Training Solutions, is a supplier of Information Technology and Softskills training to the private, community and business clients. With over 15 years experience in the public, private and third sectors designing and delivering bespoke and accredited I.T. and softskills programmes, she is well placed to offer experienced and effective training.

Sharon is registered on the FAS National Register of Trainers, is a Microsoft Master Instructor, ECDL instructor and delivers FETAC modules at all levels. She holds a BA Hons., FdSc, JEB IT Diploma, ICM Diploma in Networking Technologies, NUI Maynooth Certificate in Training and Continuing Education and is currently studying for a BSc with a British University. She is especially focussed on training the skills needed to communicate via and effectively use the web for personal, business and leisure activities.

The Dublin Business Women’s (DBW) Skillnet is a State approved training network designed to deliver quality training to businesses at a significantly reduced cost. The network, which is enterprise led, develops and delivers tailored, subsidised, training programmes for women in business.
